An emotional support animal letter is documentation from a licensed mental health professional that you have a disability and that your animal helps with it. In Casper it does the same job as anywhere in Wyoming: it supports a reasonable accommodation request when a lease says no pets, limits breeds or caps weight.
Wyoming has no statutory waiting period, so a Wyoming-licensed therapist can evaluate you and, if you qualify, your letter typically arrives by email about 15 minutes after approval. You talk with a therapist, by phone or video, about how your condition affects daily life and what your animal does for you. They decide; you do not buy an outcome.
Wyoming has no state fair housing agency, so after HUD's May 2026 change the federal statute and the strength of your documentation carry most of the weight.

Those two numbers explain why pet policies come up so often here. When most of your choices are rentals and each listing competes on price, a no-pet clause, a breed list or a monthly pet charge can take a building off the table.

Therapists do not work from a list of approved diagnoses. They look at how a condition affects your daily life and whether the animal eases it. Common examples among Casper clients:
Three steps. You are not charged for a letter unless the therapist approves you.
A short questionnaire tells you whether an emotional support animal is likely to be appropriate, and shows Wyoming's timeline before you commit.
You speak with a Wyoming-licensed therapist about your symptoms and what your animal does for you.
Once approved you receive the letter by email, usually about 15 minutes later, written for housing use and ready to send with your accommodation request.
A card hold confirms the booking. You are charged for a letter only when the therapist issues one.
Most letters reach your inbox about 15 minutes after the therapist approves you.
Every letter is signed by a therapist licensed where you live, with the license number on the page for your landlord to check.

A landlord may verify the need. They are not entitled to your diagnosis or medical records.

A purchased certificate undermines an otherwise good letter.
Some Casper renters find their dog already does trained work for them. In that case a psychiatric service dog letter documents the tasks, and it lines up with HUD's 2026 focus on trained animals.
Pricing
The same flat price as everywhere in Wyoming. No subscription, and no charge for a letter unless a Wyoming-licensed therapist approves you.
About the PSD letter: it is documentation from a licensed therapist, not a certificate or an ID. Under the ADA, public access comes from your dog being individually trained to do work or tasks for your disability. Businesses are allowed to ask only two questions and are not allowed to require paperwork. Nobody can sell you access rights — anyone who says otherwise is selling a novelty.
You are charged only after a therapist approves you. We may place a temporary authorization hold on your card beforehand to confirm it is valid; a hold is not a charge and is released if you are not approved.
100% refund if your landlord denies your ESA. If your housing provider refuses the accommodation after you submit a letter we issued, we refund what you paid in full. Full terms, including what a claim needs, on our refund policy page.
