Before You Write

Three questions come up constantly, and the answers are already on the site:

  • How long will my letter take? About 15 minutes after clinician approval in 45 states. At least 30 days in Arkansas, California, Iowa, Louisiana and Montana. Check your state.
  • My landlord rejected the letter. Send us exactly what they said. If the objection is about format or missing detail, we will have the clinician revise it at no charge. Substantive denials are covered here.
  • Do I qualify? Only a clinician can answer that, after an evaluation. Here is what they assess.

What to Include

You will get a faster answer if your first message contains:

  • The email address you booked with
  • Your state
  • What you are trying to get done, in one sentence
  • If a landlord rejected something, their exact wording, pasted in

Please do not email clinical details

Do not send diagnoses, medical records or treatment history to support. Ordinary email is not a secure channel. Raise anything clinical with your clinician directly through the appointment, or ask us to arrange a secure route. More on how we handle health information on our HIPAA compliance page.

If You Are in Crisis

We are not an emergency service and we do not monitor messages around the clock. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are struggling with thoughts of suicide or self-harm, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day in the US by call or text.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast do you reply?

Most emails get a response within one business day. Letter revision requests are usually turned around within one business day of the clinician receiving them.

Can I call you?

Support runs by email so there is a written record for both of us, which matters when the subject is housing paperwork. Your clinical appointment itself is by phone or video.

Can you talk to my landlord for me?

No, and you would not want us to. Your clinician can verify the letter and their license if a housing provider contacts them. The accommodation request itself has to come from you.
